Disney theme parks have a ride and a song entitled "It's a Small World After All". In a way, this is true, and gets more true as every year passes by. People come and go at such a fast pace, and technology allows us to get to know and experience the whole world in such a more personal and powerful way. We find out that we have so much in common. And yet, even so, we also live in different worlds and remain worlds apart.
I've had this type of sensation as I have ventured into the world of music and entertainment over the past few years. I meet so many different and various types of people along the way. I enjoy interacting with so many of you, and learning what "makes you (and your music venues) tick." Sometimes it's so difficult to really get to experience that with just a short phone call, or through the Internet. But I try to get a feel for who you are, and what you are trying to accomplish in "your world."
Walt Disney once said, "We don't make movies to make money, we make money to make more movies." Money doesn't always make the world go round, but sometimes it does help us 'get around' the world-- or at least survive to the next month. Music has always been a passion for me. I would book and promote music for free-- if I could. I love it that much. I'm sure there are many promoters and performers who share that conviction. Many of you probably feel the same way about your club, or theater, or other music venue. You love the feeling it gives you. (most of the time!) You enjoy the interaction with your clients, and with the performers who visit you.
I look forward to getting to know so many of you out there in our "small little worlds" and if possible, learning how to help one another grow and enlarge our small worlds into even bigger ones.
Thank you for helping to make it all possible.
